Brother MFC 7340 Drum Error: How to Fix It

Brother printers necessitate the replacement of drum units from time to time for producing quality prints. Typically, a laser printer from Brother brand sends a notification when the lifespan of a drum unit nears its expiry date. This notification appears in the form of Brother MFC 7340 drum error. The error may also surface on the screen if the corona wire which is attached to the drum unit of a Brother printer needs cleaning.

Normally, the error message does not show up on the screen once a user replaces it. In some cases, it may still show up. If your Brother printer shows up this problem even after the replacement of the previous drum unit, here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try out to fix the problem.

The first step towards fixing the issue would be to free the corona wiring in the internal portion of the drum unit from dirt. To do this, first, take out the front cover. Next, take out the drum unit along with the toner assembly. See whether the toner is scattered or not. In case it is scattered, keep the drum unit as well as the toner assembly on a piece of paper.

Slide the green tab from one side to the other by applying gentle pressure. Do this for at least 5-6 times.

Make sure the green tab returns to the far right in its home position. After ensuring that the green tab has snapped to its home position, put the drum unit as well as the toner assembly in their respective slots in the machine. Reinstall both the pieces and then put the front cover in its original position.

Generally, the error message to replace the drum unit does not appear on the screen after the completion of the aforementioned steps. If the issue still appears, think about having your printer checked by a certified technician.
